The House on Fremont Street

It is official, we have moved out of the liquefaction zone! This is big news for a couple of east coast earthquake ninnies, as we now have about a 700% greater chance of not losing all our earthly possessions in case of a sizeable shaker. A liquefaction zone is an area with semi-stable soil, which can settle and shift drastically during an earthquake, sometimes to the point of ceasing to be solid.

Our "new" house is almost 14o years old, which is practically the Bronze Age in Bay Area years. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, an enormous backyard for O&L and some very charming Victorian details. It also has tiny rooms, warbly walls, windows that require something jammed in the tract to keep them open, and century old redwood floors so soft that untrimmed toenails can leave gouges if you are not careful. But hey, it's a house, a welcome change after 4 years of keeping weimaraners in tiny apartments. Check it out, all dressed up for xmas:

A word on our bedroom: when we moved in it was a particularly garrish shade pink. It was so bad that despite being exhausted from days of packing, we were up on ladders repainting before the movers had left.
